How can I get an apartment with bad rental or credit history?

At Liberty Rent, we understand the hopeless feeling of being denied on your application due to less than perfect credit history. Because we are not an insurance company, if you are approved with us, we step in and get you approved, so you can move in to your new apartment.

How does Liberty Rent Work?

Liberty Rent is a service for people who fall short of tenant screening at most multi-family properties. We are here to help. We are the company that will simply get you into a lease for most applicants with less-than-perfect credit histories and give the property peace of mind that they have a good tenant; that’s our Rent Guarantee®.

What does Rent Guarantee® mean?

Rent Guarantee® is a registered trademark of Liberty Rent. It is not insurance; A Rent Guarantee is a legal agreement between landlords and Liberty Rent that allows them to fill more units with previously denied applicants and protects the property against loss of rent income.

Apply at an Apartment

Start by applying with an apartment complex. They will verify if they have units available and will determine if you need our help. If you haven’t done this, please contact us to find an apartment near you.

Registration & Pre-Qualification

Once the Apartment refers you to us, then use the email link they sent to you or click Apply Now button to start our registration process. After paying the $35 fee if you are not approved we will refund your money.

Complete the Application

If you want our help, complete the application. There is a $35 non-refundable processing fee. We typically approve applications within 1 day for applications made during business hours.

Pay our fee

Once approved, simply pay our fee and you are ready to sign your new lease. Our fee is non-refundable and is equal to one (1) months rent. We will notify you and the apartment complex when you are ready to sign your new lease.

A property referred me to you. What do I do next?

After an apartment complex has referred you to our program, you need to complete the following:

  1. Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button on our web site. 
  2. Complete our application and pay the $35 application fee. 
  3. Contact us if you have issues (Monday-Friday, between 9-6 CST) to let you know how to proceed.
  4. Our fee is based on one month’s rent. This is separate from your deposit and your first month’s rent payment to the property and is non-refundable.
  5. We do not accept payments from 3rd parties, the name on the card must match the name on the account.
  6. We will notify you via email when you can sign your lease!
Help me find a place! What Properties use our services?

First things first… Before you can use our service, you have to apply with your new property first. They will determine if you need our service, and will confirm if they will accept our service.

a. If you need help finding properties that accept our service, please contact us for a list.

b. If you are denied and the leasing office accepts our service, then follow the instructions above, A property referred me to you. What’s next?

c. If the property does not accept our service, but would like more information, then ask them to complete the form. We will be happy to reach out to them.

What is your policy if I have a roommate or spouse?

Please keep the following in mind in regards to roommates:

  1. Any adult, who is going to be on the lease, also has to be on our Certificate.
  2. Each roommate or spouse, who fails the lease screening, must complete our application to provide their own income information. There is a $35 application fee per person.
  3. Each applicant should identify all of the other co-applicant(s), so we can review the group together.
I was approved, now what? Pay the correct Fee

If you applied with us and were approved, then we will notify you of the approval with a payment link via email. You can pay using that link, or sign back in to your application on our site to pay. Please confirm with your leasing office that the certificate fee is equal to your rent amount.

Please be sure that the rental amount listed is accurate before purchasing your certificate.  If the rental amount has changed please edit the fee amount to match, or email us at help@libertyrent.com so we can help.  

If we are notified by the leasing agent, that the rental amount is incorrect, we will invoice you for the difference, which could delay your move-in date. 

I need to transfer to a different property

We do not allow property transfers after approval. It is vital that you move forward with the property that you applied with and approved for. You will need to begin our process again and re-apply with us, if you wish to change to a different apartment complex.

How long is my approval good for?

You have 30 days from your approval date to pay our fee and move in. 

If the move in date will be past 30 days, you will need to email us at help@libertyrent.com with the expected move-in date, so we can update your account.  

I need to transfer to a different property

We do not transfer properties. It is vital that you move forward with the property you applied for and if approved, were approved for. You will need to begin our process again and re-apply with us if you wish to change to a different apartment complex.

I need to make changes to my application

Please submit your application then email help@libertyrent.com with any required changes.  The application will be updated to reflect the correct information by a Liberty Rent team member.  

Are you getting an error message?

  1. Log in to our system and use the email address you entered originally.
  2. Add notifications@libertyrent.io to your contacts
  3. If you don’t have the Liberty password for that email address, click on the ‘Forgot Password?’ link on the sign-in page.
  4. If you used an incorrect email address or you do not know the email you used on your application, you will need to re-apply with us (this is for privacy reasons). We apologize for any inconvenience but you must use a proper email address in order to move forward with our service.
  5. Please log in using the same email you applied with and Invitation code from the property.
  6. You may want to try to enter through a laptop or desktop if you’re having issues through your phone or consider using a different WiFi service. (Google Chrome) or if you can not use Chrome use Microsoft Edge
