When Liberty Rent was founded more than a decade ago, the idea was simple but powerful: create a pathway to housing for applicants who are often told “no.”

Founder Bubba Grimsley, a trial lawyer who represented the victims of the early 2000’s housing crisis, saw the need firsthand. “Our clients were losing their homes and couldn’t get approved for new apartments at resident screening. I assumed there must be a solution for these situations, but there wasn’t.”   

Liberty Rent was created to fulfill that unmet need in the rental market, built on the belief that both property managers and renters could succeed together.  

This belief became our goal— to open doors for renters who deserve a second chance, while helping communities fill homes with qualified residents. 

From the beginning, what has set Liberty Rent apart is how hands-on we are at every stage of the process. For over a decade, we’ve provided real support from real people to make sure the process is smooth and easy for both properties and applicants. 

We were the first company to step into this space, and our experience has shaped us into the trusted partner we are today.  The best part?  The applicants we approve have proven Bubba’s thesis right…they make excellent residents.  

 To date, we’ve partnered with thousands of properties to say “yes” to applicants who needed our support. Each approval represents a family housed, a property stabilized, and a partnership strengthened.
